For my creative critical reflection (CCR), I conducted an unboxing of the new addition to my album collection while I answered these four key questions about the opening sequence to my film, SOLUS.                      Welcome back my blog reader! After watching this video , I was able to receive various tips on how to make a short film and what to keep in mind before/ while making one. For starters, some good information that I gathered while watching the video was that for instance one writing advice that I would like to keep in mind is that the speaker in the video explained that “If first you want to go left, go right instead” which means that whatever I think should happen next is probably what the audience is expecting that is going to happen therefore I should do the opposite of what is expected in order to keep that element of surprise and maintain the viewer engage. For Instance, if there is a scene where a jump scare is expected, I should d o the opposite which is to do nothing and save that wonderful jump scare for another scene where the audience is not expecting it and are caught off guard thus main...

Short film research: Porcupine/Thriller

                           Welcome back to my blog reader! As a way to research the thriller genre for my short film, I watched the short film “Porcupine” by the filmmaker Clifford Miu using the short of the week website and I will be analyzing its Mis-En-Scene, different camera angels, shots, movements, sounds and editing that are commonly used in t he film . Further, t he story is about a young mo ther who is a widow , one New Year’s Eve night she has to protect her infant from intruders and therefore askes the 911 operator if she has permission to shoot. Starting with sound, some dieg etic so unds that I found was low to loud banging of the front door fro m attempting to open it by force by the intruders. Comparing Le Jetee, the short, and 12 Monkeys, the full-length movie

                       W elcome back to my blog reader! Looking at La Jetée by Chris Marker the short and 12 Monkeys the full-length film by Terry Gilliam. My takeaway from the video is that both films might have their differences but still carry the same message, just one is the shorter version and the other is the longer version with more modern ideals. Moreover, some good information that I gathered is that   the short film La Jetée is a photo-novel that consists of still-images that have a voiceover and non-diegetic sounds. Therefore, for the full-length film 12 Monkeys to be the same as L a Jetée, it would have to undergo drastic changes. For instance, turn the images of the film to be still- images , turn the dialogue into a monotone narrator , to have English subtitles embedded on to the film or be in its original French , to be detached from the present action in order to provide a more distant feel about ...
