Taking a Day to Research

Image
Welcome back to my blog reader! The next step in our schedule after finishing the filming the scenes of our first location , the highly anticipated filming day at the second location was up next. Our second location is our main one, this is the one and only Ocean Wa lk Mall. My team and I decided to check the location first for safety be fore beginning filming as this is an abandoned building. There were mul tiple factors to be considered as I have mentioned before. Prior to this, we researched the ab andoned place and found out that it is almost entirely empty, and a small amount of light goes through it. We read that the ponds had dried up a long time ago and that the businesses that were part of the location were not functioning anymore. We found tha t this place was somewhat of a strange location to be in a wa y, we read an individual’s encounter in which they stated that the floors seem as if they did not have an end , and most were de

Filming of First Location Done

Welcome back to my blog reader! We continued the filming at our first location, which was Hailey’s house, in order to finalize the house scenes. We began the day with the scene where our character is searchi ng for her missing mother. Kyra took a pan shot of the house to make it seem as it is through our character’s eyes, showing the house completely empty. Then, we get a high angle of Hailey in the Kitchen in order to display her worries aft er finding out that she was alone. We didn’t have any issues with these two shots as we were able to get them in one take. We then moved on to film a scene that we sadly   had to eliminate as it took too much time of the video considering our time limit , this scene consisted of Hailey opening t he door to her mother’s room, not being able to find her, and then closing the door when exiting. My team members and I then moved on to the scene wher e our character goes over to her couch and throws herself on it. We struggl

Continuing Filming at First Location

Welcome back to my blog reader! Up next in our schedule was to continue the filming of the scenes that we had left in our first location, which is Hailey’s house. After moving on from the bathroom scene satisfied, the next scene consisted of Kyra applying a tracking shot to follow Hailey out of the bathroom and into the hallway . This scene was one of the ones that we struggled the most to film , not regarding actual trouble managing the camera but Hailey had a hard time delivering this scene as it felt a little bit unnatural to her while saying her line as our aim was for our character to reflect strong personality/attitude and be somewhat of emotional/dramatic. After a couple of takes, we were finally able to get just the way we wanted it. My team and I could most definitely agree that the most entreating/fun scene to film was the one and only the living room scene. The re was a pan that we executed for this scene, and I feel that was the per

An Interesting First Day of Filming

Welcome back to my blog reader! My team and I concluded that we would not be able to film any of our scenes over Spring break . This break was the most suitable time for us, but our team member Hailey will be going out of town for the whole break thus leading us to make the decision to film at another time. Having to change our filming schedule was a huge issue for us because onc e Spring b reak was over, testing season would begin. We then gloriously realized that we would have Friday off from school right after the break which facilitated things for us and relieved us from our stress. Now that we had our filming day marked on our calendars, we began to discuss what our next step s would be. Our team member Kyra would be going to the mall with her friends over Spring Break , which presented us with the great opportunity of getting establishing shots from this lo cation. We then decided that the weekend prior to our now established filming date, Kyra a

Discussing Our Next Step

Welcome back to my blog reader! My team and I agreed that after gathering all the resources that we need it to start the filming process , we would then set in a journey to find the location that suits us best taking in cons ideration the theme/aesthetic that our film requires and most importantly a place that is safe for us to film in. At first, we considered filming in an abandoned mall as we thought that it would go extremely well with the film. However, we had multiple concerns about the mall as it appeared to us that   it could be very dark inside and the only source of light would be sunlight. Th is seems like a small problem now, but it could turn to a much bigger issue when we go to film as that day the sun could set (w hich would lead us to a need a different/multiple days of filming to get it right) and that would not go with what we wanted for our film. Another concern that we have (the most crucial one) is that the location might be unsafe as the
