Genre Decision for Film
Welcome back to my blog reader! I have come onto this blog to inform you dear reader that after doing the genre research which allowed me to take a look at the common camera angels, movement, shots, sound, editing, Mis-En-Scene, examples as well as learning which elements I did and did not find appealing about the genres of horror, thriller, and dystopian. After careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that the genre of thriller is that one that I believe will best suit my film. The reason as to why I choose the specific genre of thriller is because I found it to be the most suitable for pitch as my film deals with a young adult who wins a riffle ticket but does not yet know what that will cost her therefore leading me to be in dire need of a genre that conveys suspense and mystery as well as uneasiness that leads the audience to go through feelings of anxiety, fear, anticipation thus making them be at the edge of their seats. In contrast, the genre of horror is meant to provoke terror among its viewers and the genre of dystopian consists of a relating to or detonating an imagined state or society where there is great suffering which is meant to make the audience examine modern political and social structures as well as issues from the real in a way that when presented to the viewer, they are left thinking and comparing the real world to the fictional. These two genres are wonderful, and I personally enjoy them and find them very entertaining, especially dystopian films. However, for my film I have concluded that the genre of thriller is the best way to go as it is the one that matches my pitch the best. Further, with the resources that I have as a teenager, this seems to be the genre that out of the three will make production go much smoother for me. In addition, the thriller genre will aid me in creating a film that will provide the audience with suspense that will leave them waiting for what comes next. Moreover, I don’t believe I need to tweak my pitch as of right now, however once I begin planning, I might have to make little changes. Well this is my cue to leave, till next time reader!
