Back to the Editing Room

Welcome back to my blog reader! After taking in all the advice and comments that my close friends Jasmine and Jada provided me with regarding my short film “Lucky” after they watched it. I have gathered all their suggestions and concerns and have taken them back with me to the editing room. Further, for the scene where Gabriela, the protagonist of the film, interacts with the stranger to ask where the event is located. There was poor quality audio for that scene as I filmed it at the mall therefore there was background noise as well as the sound of the wind. This scene is a crucial part of the film, thus I had to find a solution to the problem. I asked the actress who plays Gabriela and the actress who plays the stranger to voiceover that scene in attempt to make it easier for the viewer to understand the dialogue as it plays a vital role that in the story and leads to the suspenseful areas of the film. Further, the individuals who reviewed my short film stated that the voiceover was not bad, but it was not good either therefore it made the audio quality better than before but at the same time it made the scene look out of place. Therefore, I decided that my solution was not the best and had to be fixed. In CapCut, the editing application that I used in order to edit my short film, had a feature that enhances the audio quality of videos which is just what I was looking for and required. I applied to the scene, and I liked the results that it provided me with, much more than what the voiceover offered, therefore enhancing my short film. Moreover, Jada and Jasmine had mentioned that my voiceover for Nancy was good, but they would have liked it to have an effect that made it sound phone-like in order to make it more realistic. Taking note of this, I looked through the effects of the CapCut app and among them I found one that made my voice sound as if it was coming from the phone which added realism to the film. Overall, all the comments and suggestions that were made during the review time have helped me to identify the little errors/details of my short film in order to fix them. Well this is my cue to leave, till the next time reader!
