Adding the final touches
Welcome back to my blog reader! Up next is our final step before being able to finalize our music video, we are almost at the finish time due to that our last step is to review and to make sure that everything flows smoothly. Now, speaking about the flow of the music video. We did encounter one last issue; the real problem was that we did not know what it was, something was missing, and we could not point our fingers at what it was. When thinking about what the problem could be, we first thought that it could be the length of the clips. However, when we went to see if that was the issue, we saw there was nothing wrong in that area and that it was not the foundation of our setback. Then, after watching the video a couple of times, we came to realize where the issue lay. Which instead of being the length of the clips, it was the actual editing itself. We then as a group discussed what we could do in order to solve this problem, after going back and forth we decided that the best solution was to apply another editing technique. At the beginning of the music video, we decided to apply a split screen in order to be able to display the material girl’s process of getting ready to go out with more ease and a way to entertain the viewer (maintain its attention). We thought this was a good choice due to that it would make our video better while also keeping the time duration the same. After we were able to resolve our small setback, we were finally ready to review our video. During the reviewing process, we agreed that it was best to identify some of the mise-en-scene in our video. When it came to the props, we ended up having fake money, shopping bag, a “yes or no” note for the poor boy to ask our material girl out, and an expensive watch. Some of these items differ from the original set of props such as the red carpet and the white boa. We were not able to use the red carpet at the mall due to that it would obstruct the traffic of people and the white boa did not fit our setting anymore, so we decided that it was best to excluded from the props. Then, when it came to the makeup we would use, we only applied it to our material girl which was a pair of fake lashes and bold red lipstick. When it came to the costumes our actors would wear, we selected formal clothing (black suits) this helped illustrate the contrast (the difference in status) between them and our poor boy that was in a T-shirt and jeans. And our material girl was wearing a fancy pink dress. For the lighting, our best bet was to rely on the extremely bright sun. The end of the reviewing process concluded our music video. This whole process, from beginning to end, was a very interesting journey. Well this is my cue to leave, till next time reader!
