Starting the Process
Welcome back to my blog reader! My group and I took the very first steps in order to start filming our opening sequence. We started this process by asking our teacher for a camera, she provided us with a handled camera which we have some experience on how to use it as we have used I previous projects. Other individuals had used this camera prior to falling in our hands, due to this there were various takes of another individual’s takes. With the USB memory converter that our teacher provided us with, we were able to easily clear/make just enough room for our takes to prepare for when filming day arrives once we plugged it to one of my member’s laptops. In addition, we decide to use the tripod that we still had from a previous project due to our previous filming experience as we have seen how necessary a tripod can be when it comes to getting a specific angle or just when trying to be steadier/have more control over the camera. In our first project, which was the commercial, we struggled with getting the tilt shot right. Our tilt shot kept coming out to be anything but steady, as we were much more inexperienced, we tried the tripod last which was ended up being our salvation as we were able to get the steady/smooth shot that we wanted which was when we learned the true value of the tripod. Moreover, we came up with the idea of using one of my members’ ring lights as we plan on filming in locations with dark surroundings and it might be hard to see what is happening on the scene because of it. Luckily, we would not have the need to purchase a ring light as we have two options, we could use either Hailey’s ring light or Kyra's. Both ring lights are easy to travel with and they come with a case which is perfect for taking it to our location, we are going to use Hailey’s ring light first and have Kyra’s one as backup in case something happens to the first one or we need a bigger size. Further, we discussed various options for our location, but first we decided to look for an abandoned mall as our first location. The main character in our story is a teenage girl, and we found that an abandoned mall is a place where she would most likely spend time. We were really into the idea of our location being an abandoned place such as an old stadium, abandoned theater. However, some of our options do not fit our story and so far, we have not been able to find a location that suits us yet. Well this is my cue to leave, till next time reader!
