Getting Everything Ready
Welcome back to my blog reader! As I began making the preparations to start filming, I decided to change the title of my short film from “A Trip to Remember” to “Lucky” as I believe it holds more irony. This is due that the protagonist named Gabriela receives a spare raffle ticket from her friend Nancy to an event at the mall in which many could consider her to be lucky as her friend won a raffle ticket and decided to give it to her. However, things take a turn when she arrives at the mall and is not able to find the event due to that it was all orchestrated by her stalker. Therefore, I thoroughly enjoy the irony that the title “Lucky” offers as she was in fact not lucky at all. Moreover, to prepare for the filming process, I had to create and organize the props that I am going to need for filming such as the raffle ticket, the phone as well as to rehearse the angles for some of the scenes. For the raffle ticket, I had to research images of blank raffle tickets to create it. I went through various images of the blank tickets such as pink, blue, white, and many more. Further, I decided to go with the white blank raffle ticket as it felt that was the better fit as that color is the most common among tickets thus adding a bit of realism to the film. After this, I went to create the background for the ticket as a lot of times when individuals receive a ticket online, it has a page that comes along with it. I wanted to make it look somewhat of a scam but not fully therefore I made the background color of the page pastel pink and the texture of the background to look like crumbled paper as it leaves the idea that it could possibly be a scam while the common white raffle ticket makes you not give it a second thought especially when a close friend sends it to you thus balancing both. Then, I went to put them together and added the final details. I added phrases and words such as “Scan me,” “Congrats,” “Here is your raffle ticket,” and “See you there.” These final touches bring the image all together as it makes you question whether it is a scam but at the same time appears real enough that you ignore the fact that it might not be. Moving on to another prop, the phone that the protagonist is going to use will be the actress own phone as I will be using my own phone to film. Moreover, the night before filming, my cousin and I rehearsed various angles for most of the indoor scenes in order to be a bit more prepared for filming day. Well this is my cue to leave, till next time reader.
