Our editing process
Welcome back to my blog reader! After concluding our filming process on a high note, it was time for our editing process to begin and for our editing skills to come into play. Due to that most of the clips were filmed on Kyra’s iPhone, she first selected the clips that she believed were the best ones and then asked if we also thought those were the best. When we agreed we started discussing why those were best. Kyra was able to get multiple takes of each scene due to the gran amount of time we were there. When selecting which scenes were best for the music video, one thing we had to keep in mind was the lighting. We looked through all the scenes that Kyra sent us, in the lookout for the ones that possessed the best lighting that we could possibly get and a lighting that matched the other scenes. We took into consideration if you were able to see the faces of the actors clearly, if there were individuals in the shot, if there were shadows in the background that did not look right. After taking all of this into consideration and selecting the ones with the best lighting, we moved on to see which of the clips had unnecessary parts that needed to be cut. There were multiple videos where it began before the actual scene started or end way after we said “cut.” We needed to only keep the scenes that held the storyline of our music video in order for it to flow in a smooth manner. After this we were ready to start editing the audio of the video. Kyra took the time to edit the audio for the video, she downloaded the song and saved it on her phone so that she could then send it to her computer and edit it while we were in class. We decided that the song would fit the time slot of one minute and 10 seconds in order for the video to not end in an abrupt manner (For example, the last three seconds of the song have the fade-out feature applied to it, in order for the end to flow smoothly). To edit the audio, we used the editing app named “CapCut” due to that Kyra already had experience using the app and already had it downloaded on her computer. Then, we edited the videos together along with the audio (keeping in mind our time limit for the video) and that finalized our editing process for the material girl music video. Well this is my cue to leave, till next time reader!
