Editing Process Part 2
Welcome back to my blog reader! To continue the editing process, I began editing the scene where Gabriela walks away from the stranger and decides to call Nancy. As I mentioned before, I am the voice of Nancy which I will do with a voiceover. I placed the videos for the scene in order, and I trimmed them. Then, I rehearsed how I was going to say my lines which as the scene goes on my voice gets more concern every time. I then completed the voiceover and added an effect that makes it sound like my voice is coming from the phone. I made sure that when Gabriela slowly drops her phone due to that she is extremely confused on what is happening, when I say the line “Hello? Hello?” my voice sounds like it is far. Further, the scenes where there is dialogue and take place in the mall such as the Gabriela looking for the place wondering where it is, stopping to check the location and deciding to ask assistance from a stranger, the interaction with the stranger, the decision to call Nancy, and her interaction with Nancy have poor audio quality. Due to that we were filming outside without microphones there were lots of factors that I could not control such there being a lot of wind and background noise. This led to the audio quality to not be as good as it could have been therefore, I have decided to have my actresses voiceover their part and attempt to match it. The actresses completed this task and when I tried to match the video with the voice, it was not what I was expecting. I was not pleased with the results as the voiceover doesn’t fit as perfect on a person as trying to match it to a phone such as Nancy’s part. I will keep it for now as it is the best it can be, and I will see how other individuals react to it when they review my short film, which will provide me with suggestions and possible ways that I could apply in order to resolve the issues that I have encountered such as this. Moving forward, I finished placing all the scenes in their rightful place and added their designated transition. For the very last image shown in the film, I added zooms to the opening door to increase the tension for the viewer and lead them to conclude that it might not have been a dream after all. This concludes the editing process which leads to this short film getting reviewed by some individuals in order to have a clear idea of what I need to adjust coming from the perspective of an audience member. Well this is my cue to leave, till next time reader!
